  • Eco luxury

Owners and hosts Peter Adams & Clare de Carteret-Bisson bring a very personal touch to the experience. Clare is an accomplished cook and Peter adds his expert knowledge of New Zealand wine to the dining experience.

Guest accommodation at The Resurgence is in either rooms in the main lodge, or private suites or chalets overlooking the forest.

Apart from the luxury accommodation and excellent dining, The Resurgence is an environmentally sustainable property and is actively involved in wildlife conservation. Replanting of native trees and stoat trapping on the grounds and in the wider region have allowed declining species to be reintroduced and thrive.

  • Golden Bay & Abel Tasman National Park

The north western coast of the South Island is a place of peace and relaxation. It has a great year round climate and the pace of life here is relaxed and colourful with many of the locals being either long established farming families or alternative lifestylers seeking to escape the rat race.

It is perfect for both the artistic traveller and the lover of food and drink as art galleries, studios and chic cafés abound.

For the more adventurous, the outdoors offers fabulous wilderness opportunities. Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest in New Zealand and is dominated by beautiful golden sandy beaches broken by fascinating granite outcrops.

The calm and sheltered waters are crystal clear and make kayaking the ideal mode of transport for exploring this pristine coastline. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, the Coastal Track is one of New Zealand’s great walks.

Further west from Abel Tasman, up and over Takaka Hill, is Golden Bay. The bay is shallow and sheltered with superb beaches and safe, warm bathing – perfect for a family holiday.

Golden Bay’s character is all down to the protection offered by Farewell Spit, the longest sand spit in New Zealand. A visit to this nature reserve is a stunning highlight of any NZ holiday.
