24 Hours in Christchurch
We’re on the road!
Audrey from our Auckland office has been checking in with a few NZID friends in Christchurch.
Wheels – Audrey picked up a Holden Captiva from Budget Rent a Car at Auckland Airport. It was an easy drive and she discovered a nifty app called Android Auto. When you plug your phone into the car USB you can download the app, and use Google Maps directly on the system.
Audrey’s first stop was at Orari, a lovely B&B just a short drive from the airport and located within walking distance to Hagley Park, Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens. The Art Centre is also right across the road. There’s a lift to help guests take their luggage upstairs, and if you’re leaving early to catch the TranzAlpine train an early breakfast can be arranged.
The next stop was the simply stunning Otahuna Lodge. It’s a beautiful luxury property with incredible gardens. Pre dinner drinks and canapes are on offer in the drawing room and the turret area is available for guests to enjoy a private lunch or dinner. Fresh flowers are picked from the gorgeous garden, which include vast vegetable gardens, a mushroom shed, melon house and hot house for tomatoes.
Audrey stayed the night at Hotel Montreal, where she viewed the Junior suites, Penthouse and Family Suite. All were spacious with full kitchens, delicious coffee and IPads. Dinner was tapas at the Polo Bar & Restaurant at Hotel Montreal.
