  • A three day paddle on the Coromandel Peninsula

Arriving after midday at Whangapoua Beach, the first night is spent settling in at a beachfront bach, with an evening consisting of a meal of great Kiwi cuisine overlooking the tranquil surroundings.

Breakfast then sets you up for two hours of paddling on a secluded bay somewhere on the peninsula, where you can spend time fishing, swimming and snorkelling, or just relaxing. If the fishing is less than ideal, then after lunch there is a second chance to try your hand at catching your dinner, jumping into a motorised dinghy and heading a little way off shore.

After an afternoon of swimming, fishing and snorkelling, you can relax and enjoy a beautiful meal of freshly caught fish and seafood, and another tasty New Zealand wine.

Next day you will head out to climb the 520metres high Castle Rock, known locally as “The Giant’s Head”, the highest point on this part of the peninsula, and historically used as a navigation point by seafarers. Then it’s off to explore Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach where you can bathe in pools dug into the beach filled with sea water heated by the thermal vents from the reservoir of molten lava only 2km below.

The final night takes you back to the beachfront bach to recount the stories of the trip, accompanied by more delicious NZ wine.   After breakfast on the final day, a short walk takes you to New Chums Beach, where you can swim, kayak, fish, or snorkel. Then after lunch, around 2pm, it is time to say a sad farewell!

  • "We would love to return"

Thanks for listening so well and tailoring our trip so expertly.   All our needs and wants were met thanks to you. All our B&B hosts spoke highly of you and want to see you again so perhaps a trip is in order.   We would certainly love to return and explore areas we didn’t reach as well as re-visiting some of our favourite spots (and there were many)    Alan & Claire Taylor
