VISIT NEW ZEALAND’S MOST REMOTE PLACES BY BOAT AND HELICOPTER WITH NEW ZEALAND IN DEPTH’S “RETREATS WITHOUT ROADS”

(Program can be tailored to individual travel transport preferences)

If you’ve ever imagined leaving your car behind and only traveling to places not reachable by roads, New Zealand In Depth’s Retreats without Roads itinerary is just the ticket. Created by New Zealand specialists New Zealand In Depth, the 14-day itinerary visits some of New Zealand’s most remote and beautiful locations, accessible only by helicopter, four-wheel drive or boat.

Starting on New Zealand’s North Island on Kapiti Island, guests can fly to the Bay of Many Coves at the top of South Island, then down the east coast to Kaikoura and on to Banks Peninsula, continuing south to Mt Aspiring National Park and ending in Fiordland, the most remote area of New Zealand. Prices for the itinerary start at $11,500 USD per person, and include all accommodations, breakfast and dinner daily, plus one helicopter transfer and boat transport. Helicopter transfers between lodges are additional; road, boats and domestic flights are available alternatives.

Program highlights include a stay at Seascape Annandale on Banks Peninsula, where guests can arrive by helicopter to a James Bond-like setting with accommodations that appear to be floating over the open sea;  a stay in a landscape-immersive PurePod, a luxury hotel suite set in an all- glass box; sailing around isolated Doubtful Sound among the fiords of the country’s breathtaking Fiordland National Park; a Maori-guided tour of an island wildlife sanctuary;  and a stay on a working sheep farm accessible only by helicopter in the snow-capped highlands of Mount Aspiring National Park.  The “Retreats without Roads” program is offered from November through April.

Program activities range from bird watching and hiking to spa treatments, farming, fishing, whale watching, mountain biking and swimming with seals and dolphins. World-class cuisine and premier accommodations are featured.
